Steve was born and raised in Maryland, spending his entire life there until his move to Hilton Head Island in December 2019. By God’s grace, he was saved at the age of nine and grew in his faith while actively participating in youth ministry and attending a Christian school. Steve earned a Biblical Studies degree from Washington Bible College, where he also played basketball.
In 1985 Steve met Blair as they traveled on a summer ministry team, singing and playing sports at churches and Christian camps from New Jersey to Kentucky. They were married in 1986. Steve has had the privilege of teaching and coaching at a Christian school, serving in the Admissions Office at his alma mater, and serving part-time as the youth director at his church in Maryland.
Steve served in the ministry of law enforcement for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office for 25 years. In December 2019, Steve retired at the rank of Captain. During that time, he was also heavily involved in the preaching and teaching ministry at his church, where he was an elder.
Steve began serving at Grace January 1, 2020 as Associate Pastor. His passions are marriage and family ministry, life group ministry, and discipleship. He and Blair have two adult children: Lindsey and Andrew.
“Thus saith the Lord, ‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight,’ saith the Lord.”
Jeremiah 9:23-24 (KJV)
